Java Toul Kork

Migration is a new body of work by Chhan Dina that draws our attention to the world of birds, an endlessly fascinating subject for the artist. Cranes, finches and sparrows, in varied tones of ink and acrylic, emerge from a white background. The artist’s well-established style captures their dynamic energy with paint and ink splashed and dripped across the canvases.

Family of cafés & community art spaces located across Phnom Penh

Java Creative Café is a café and community art space, established in 2000 at its first location near the Independence Monument. It was created by Dana Langlois with a small team of seven. Now, with partner La Sros, they operate a family of four cafés & art spaces located across Phnom Penh, including Independence Monument, Toul Kork, Toul Tom Poung and at Futures Factory.

Our newly built intimate black box theater that started with resident dance company Prumsodun Ok & Natyarasa. Since it’s opening, Sophiline Arts Ensemble, Dynamoverse, Comedy in Cambodia and Common Sole have joined as resident companies offering regular programs of dance, storytelling, comedy, theater, experimental performance and improv.

The library is a new addition to the Java family, that features literary works of Cambodian writers, ranging from classic literature to poetry to romance novels. Visitors are welcome to read the books at the library while sitting at the café.

Creative Generation

Creative Generation is a platform to launch Cambodia’s new artistic talents by celebrating, mentoring and inspiring young creatives to cultivate a strong artistic vision and professional skills. The program seeks out the most talented and motivated artists and provides them the platform to develop a strong body of work, while bringing them local and international exposure.

Java has its own house coffee blend, which is sourced from fair trade organic farms in Laos, Vietnam and Thailand and roasted daily in Phnom Penh. I’ve never had a bad cup of coffee here.
