Java Creative Café

where creativity is brewing


Java Creative Café is a café and community art space, established in 2000 at its first location near the Independence Monument. It was created by Dana Langlois with a small team of seven. Now, with partner La Sros, they operate a family of three cafés & art spaces located across Phnom Penh, including Independence Monument, Toul Kork and Toul Tom Poung.

Creative Program


We present a regular program of curated exhibitions featuring Cambodian artists and artists living and working in Cambodia.

Creative Generation

Creative Generation is a program that awards creative young Cambodian artists providing them with the resources to produce their first solo exhibition


We work with Prumsodun Ok & NATYARASA as our resident dance company at our black box theater in Toul Tom Poung. They present weekly dance performances together with guests Sophiline Arts Ensemble.

Community events

We work with community organizers and artists to present talks, music, film and more across all our locations.


Thank you for your wonderful gig last night. Love the new songs (by Carrie Herbert), to me they explored a raw space with both light and shade - the contrast in moods was very powerful. Well done! Beautiful venue too to do it in with lovely acoustic, and the live painting was a treat - I think it really worked as a meditative counterpart to the immediacy of song.

A long-time supporter of the arts, Java has opened its third Phnom Penh café, which features a black box theatre that hosts regular performances.
