CURRENT EXHIBITION
Java Toul Kork
Migration is a new body of work by Chhan Dina that draws our attention to the world of birds, an endlessly fascinating subject for the artist. Cranes, finches and sparrows, in varied tones of ink and acrylic, emerge from a white background. The artist’s well-established style captures their dynamic energy with paint and ink splashed and dripped across the canvases.
OUR STORY
Family of cafés & community art spaces in Phnom Penh
Java Creative Café is a café and community art space, established in 2000 at its first location near the Independence Monument. It was created by Dana Langlois with a small team of seven. Now, with partner La Sros, they operate a pair of sister cafés & art spaces located in Toul Kork and Toul Tom Poung.
Creative Enterprise Pioneer
Java has pioneered a creative enterprise model in Cambodia, using resources of the café to support non-profit and independent art programs. Across the three spaces, it presents a curated series of exhibitions, Creative Generation award program and live performances in a black box theater.
Java has been running creative cafés in Phnom Penh since 2000 and is committed to providing quality f&b and artistic experiences.

CREATIVE PROGRAM
Gallery
The gallery brings art to the Phnom Penh public in ways they may not normally experience with beautiful and thought-provoking exhibitions that sometimes transform the café spaces. With 6 exhibitions a year featuring young and emerging Cambodian artists, many of whom have gone on to establish international careers.
Theater
Our newly built intimate black box theater that started with resident dance company Prumsodun Ok & Natyarasa. Since it’s opening, Sophiline Arts Ensemble, Dynamoverse, Comedy in Cambodia and Common Sole have joined as resident companies offering regular programs of dance, storytelling, comedy, theater, experimental performance and improv.
Library
The library is a new addition to the Java family, that features literary works of Cambodian writers, ranging from classic literature to poetry to romance novels. Visitors are welcome to read the books at the library while sitting at the café.
Creative Generation
Creative Generation is a platform to launch Cambodia’s new artistic talents by celebrating, mentoring and inspiring young creatives to cultivate a strong artistic vision and professional skills. The program seeks out the most talented and motivated artists and provides them the platform to develop a strong body of work, while bringing them local and international exposure.
